Panto Group

Barrow Panto Group

We will be starting our 2016/17 season very soon. We will be performing Cinderella on Friday 10th and Sat 11th March 2017.

Rehearsals will start on Wednesday November 23rd in the Hall of Humphrey Perkins from 7:30pm - 9:30pm on Wednesday evenings. Subsequent rehearsals will be on Wednesdays in the Arts Theatre of Humphrey Perkins from 7:30pm - 9:30pm.

We may be able to accommodate new adult members to act, but we are always also looking for help e.g. people to paint scenery, make costumes, design posters etc. Then there are all the helpers who we need backstage during a show: prompting, operating the curtain, doing make up, helping as a dresser, lighting, sound, props etc."

The Panto Group is managed by the Panto Steering Committee who meet as necessary.

We''re looking forward to yet another season!!

Panto Group History

The Panto Group was formed in the autumn of 1996. Judith Rodgers called a meeting of anyone interested one stormy rain-lashed night. Despite a power cut, the enthusiasm of the twenty or so people who turned up was enough to get started.
We kicked off with Humpty Dumpty. Perhaps the most memorable image for me was Tom Fairbrother who was 13/14(?) wearing an amazing egg shell dressed in red and blue striped shorts and bright turquoise tights. John Earl played the larger than life Dame with enormous humour and dramatic effect.
With huge enthusiasm that derived from the successful performances of Humpty and the evident delight of the audiences, we launched into an Old Time Music Hall the next autumn. We asked George Robinson to compere the show...he was a natural. Later, when John bowed out of his Dame role, George stepped seamlessly in and is now the focal point of many of our pantos.
